Europe Trip Travel Log 2015 : part 1 - UK (updated to day7/24)
Travel log
Day 1:
9/10 arrived at london 4.30pm. Took tube (piccadily line) around 6 sth pm to russell square. reached hostel about 7pm. Got a basement room. Triple storey bunk beds. I took the top most bed ><, ken took the bed below me. After contacting dj using the hostel wifi, we went out to meet him and his friend at leicester square (chinatown) for dinner. We had dinner (fish n chip) in the Brown's restaurant (dj chia xD). His friend richard, an engineer, is quite a funny guy. Went back hostel and KO after a long flight of 13 hours from malaysia.
Day 2:
10/10 kept waking up all night tho had a few hours of deep sleep. Some ppl came back to hostel late thus the noises. Otherwise it was ok. Had the free breakfast (toasted bread and cereal and tea), took the pamphlet and so happened we join the sanderman free walking tour around london. Before that, we went to buy data plan. 3 - all in one for 20£ (cz we needed the international roaming service). Walked around the brunswick sq to wait for the shop to open. Later on, we managed to confirm the pickup location for nx day's tour to stonehenge and bath. Anyways back to the london tour, we started walking from the gathering point at Covent market garden, head towards some square. walked pass the pall hall st. Tour guide said it's a high-end place for rich ppl. They have some gentlemen club there. then we went to walk to buckingham palace and got to see the changing of guards shift. My oh my it was so packed.
We went on to trafalgar sq for the big ben and westminster abbey as the last stop of the tour. Overall it was a good informative tour that lasted around two and a half hour. Had mcD as lunch. Walked around on our own to london bridge, london eye and tower bridge. Hell it was such a rush when we were walking back for the london eye. Walked 3.3km in 45min(?). Dinner (with dj again :)) for malaysian food in china town. Leg GG, and KO early.
Day 3:
11/10 7.15am went to russell hotel for the pickup bus to vic coach station for premium tour to stonehenge and bath. By 10.20am we've alrd reached stonehenge. Wowwww it was prettyyyy but so windy! Headed to bath at 12pm as scheduled, reach bath around 1 sth. As pretty as usual.
Day 4:
12/10 manchester!! Took the national express bus from victoria coach station and travelled for ~5 hours and reached manchester around 11.50am. Bought the megaride daypass and off we go to the old trafford museum. Its my first time stepping into a football stadium. It's sooooo big! Had lunch in their red cafe for 9.95 hmm quite exp for the quality of the food..jam the whole way when returning back to london.. reached back victoria coach station 11pm.. KO for the day.
Day 5:
13/10 went to oxford. Walked around chilly and had a good cheap lunch in meateater shop. Went to the museum, had an Egypt exhibition there which was quite cool. Around 5pm sth we tried to take an earlier bus back to london but the bus driver refused to let us board :/ 7.30 went back to bus station and headed back london. Had some nugget when stopping at rest stop in highway.
Day 6
14/10:
Checked out early 4sth am to go st pancreas intl to catch a train to paris. Didnt even brush teeth until we reached the train station. Train departed and arrived on time in paris. We bought a book of tickets for 14.10 euros. Looked a bit lost in paris train station as i couldnt use my roaming that time (reason will be revealed later). However less gypsies there..!! I think they hv tighten their securities which is a good thing. Later a girl came to ask us "do u nid help?" And nicely pointed to us where to go to our platform. LOL.. But still.. Platform in paris is so confusing. We exit at nation and walked to our hostel. Walaooo kept walking without correct direction #$#@##%
Merely depending on phone's gps. Finally when we found our way to the hostel.. It's alrd near 11am. (Reached gare du nord 9 sth am)
I think we went to Paris Eiffle Tower... walked around for Notra Dame and some other things.
Had pizza as dinner.
Day 7
15/10:
The hotel we stayed in Paris wasn't that bad but it wasn't good either. But it's near to the picpus station where we needed to take an early bus in the morning to Amsterdam with IDbus or Ouibus.
Checked out early and took the train and walked to the bus terminal.
OHMAIGOSHHH, the bus was delayed for 2 hours cz we have a suspicious guy who wouldn't check in his luggage !!!!! it was quite a scary moment, but other passengers seem to be quite calm about it? :/ well in the end the police came and talked the guy out from the bus and off we go to amsterdam. A long bus ride.... reached amsterdam in the evening 6-7pm?... we didnt have our lunch throughout the journey T.T so we were starving when we reached amsterdam.
