November portfolio update

Image
πŸŽ‰ Election day!  My portfolio is going to the direction that I have planned out. It's no surprise that the banks are cutting their interest rate lower and lower - you know, to make people spend their money and boost the country's economy. But I still gotta keep some for emergency fund. There are 2 holdings ( VDHG and BOQ )  that I plan to sell in 2021 once I hold long enough for CTG tax after 12 months as they are not really aligning with what I want.  Haha I'm a cheapo can't help myself.  I have added few more in ASIA tech because I can only foresee the growth of tech. How else are we supposed to live without internet and scrolling the phone aimlessly? πŸ˜‚ 🀣  We shall see how the election go hey? Don't forget to use my link to sign up for Selfwealth  to get 5 free trades for yourself! (Flat fee $9.50 for every trade on this trading platform).  They are going to launch for US market trade by end of the year.

October Update and my mistake in investment

Image
I have bought more ETFs in September - ASIA and VDHG, also topping up my existing ones. I made a mistake while buying VDHG. I was experimenting another trading app - Commsec to check on their live update of prices. So while I used that $ to place order in Selfwealth, selfwealth price was actually not the same?!!! It's my fault for not checking the price on selfwealth before clicking the order button. I ended up buying 60 cent more than market price on selfwealth platform - which means I lost money the second I placed order.  πŸ’€ πŸ”¨

Cerave is not for me :(((

Image
I recently suffered quite a bad skin condition this winter in Aussie. I've tried my usual La Roche-Posay lip balm, Laneige lip mask (which eventually did help improve my chapped lips) this winter but the painful sensation and constant dry skin was a huge problem to me. I ended up watching some youtube videos and saw the recommendation between Cerave and Vani cream by a dermatologist youtuber. So the next day I went to the local chemist and got myself a Cerave facial lotion PM.  So initially I did feel the burning sensation when I applied on my face and I did realise some acne breakout on my forehead the next day which is quite unusual for me as I'm not those who easily has acne outbreak except for hormonal ones during menstrual cycle. Little did I know it was the start of my horrible experience... I continuously applied it on my skin as I thought "ah its okay.. just a little sting, it would get better". I was so wrong. After application of Cerave lotion During the cov...

August Update on my FIRE journey

Image
This is my current distribution. I'm hoping to gear more to my ETFs this month. I've been listening to many podcast (Aussie firebug, medical money, dev raga) and reading a lot about LIC vs ETFs.  I think for now, I'll stick to ETFs as my strategy.  I still haven't got enough side hustle to bump up more $.  And congrats to my partner who got onto paeds training and we don't have to move interstate woohoo!!

My Barefoot investing

I'd just like to write this down as part of my baby step journey into this share investing market.  Hopefully someone else as clueless as me would find this relatable. πŸ˜‚ Disclaimer: I'm not by any chance very financial savvy or have a very good knowledge in share market/the bull or bear. It all started around end of March-early April in 2020. My partner started to read a book called  "the barefoot investor" by Scott Pape  after we went book shopping one day feeling like we gotta read something other than just watching netflix on our free time.  P .s. I got myself a "this is going to hurt" by Adam Kay and it was a good book where I can relate to some of his experiences at work. 1 - The first thing we did was to open up an ING bank account as suggested by BFI.   Reason: - 1.8% interest in saving maximiser account as compared to 0.05% in my other bank - Common sense time: 1.8% vs 0.05% which generates more interest? I only wish I knew it earlier...Al...

Diva Cup Saga continues...

So I tried my last cycle with diva cup again. This time I had no issues with removing the cup but there comes another one ---> forgetting to remove it on my day 3-4 period for at least 12H because I was rushing in the morning to work!! πŸ˜“ My cup stank like πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€... Tried soaking it in vinegar overnight then re-boiled it then put it under the sun.. didn't workπŸ’€ And then oh my haul to get hydrogen peroxide....it's sold out almost everywhere...I finally managed to get it on my 3rd store hunt. Again soaked it for longer than 12 hours.. reboiled and let it have a sunbath.. Smell was slightly faint-er?? but i don't know is it just my sense of smell or it's still just there?😐 But it didn't really bother me much after that. Fingers crossed. Hope the smell would eventually go away. Lesson learnt: do not put it in for longer than the duration they suggested!!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Update 7 June: prior to my June cycle, there's no smell! Thanks to hydrogen peroxide so...

Diva Cup Review

I finally mustered up the courage and bought a menstrual cup after doing the quiz  yesterday.  My result was a lily cup / diva cup etc.  However my chemist only is selling diva cup.  So I got a size 1 diva cup yesterday. --- TMI --- Tried it on in the shower, tried to take it out. Felt quite alright. So popped it in and went to sleep after that. -- THE NEXT MORNING -- I was silly enough to want to remove it as soon as I was awake. To my horror, I cant feel that stem like I did yesterday in the shower for removal!!!  From a medical background, i know the cup is still inside. But I just couldn't reach it as my fingers are too short. Tried almost every tip on the internet -> squat, relax, let gravity does its job. I even had a wee and opened my bowel because of the bladder and rectal pressure after trying to get to the base of the cup. The stem/base was so "slippery" in a body for manipulation 😞.. the pictures of removal steps on the internet ar...

Review Skin Care product

Image
I always have troubles when it comes to the time of the month a.k.a. menses/period. I tend to have acne outbreak (always, 99% on the T-zone and chin on my face) during my period no matter how good I take care of my skin. These are the few facial products I have tried out so far and I just want to give an honest opinion on how it works on me. Face Wash : I had used Johnson & Johnson's face wash from my whole teenage life. Never had any issues with it. I like how un-oily it made my face feel after using it. After going into university, I explored a bunch of random face wash. My sister recommended me using Massada but i find the particle hurts my face alot so I didn't like it. Then my bf's sister recommend him to use another korean brand facewash - which I love the smell alot but it is costly!! 98MYR per bottle. I bought like 3...in 2016-2017. Fast forward to 2018, I was still using the korean facewash as mention.  Until I started going to facial...
