My UK trip dec 2012-jan 2013 :D
27th dec: came out from home around 5.30 sth..reached Penang airport and printed boarding pass around 6.20am. Flight was 7am. Traveled with Boeing, took around 1hr to reach KLIA. Flight speed amazed me. Almost 900km/hr. First time taking aerotrain in klia. Spent sometime at coffee bean before heading to gate C17. Was quite dumb..forgot to go toilet before boarding, and I even finished the whole bottle of water before disposing it. Very impressed by the waiting area. Fly to London with A380-800. It has upper and lower deck. Flight wasn't full. 2meals, few snacks served. Monitor is touch-screen. There's a USB plug..didn't try out yet..shall try it when I get back. Flight delayed 15 min. Reached heathrow airport around 5pm. Got asked many question at the custom. Waited for luggage and ciao. At first I thought I wanna get an Oyster card before heading the heathrow-paddington express. Saw need to walk quite far, changed my mind. Took shutter bus to go from terminal 4 to terminal 5. From terminal 5, boarded the heathrow express. Reached paddington around 7pm+. Bought a one way ticket (paddington-great Portland street) for 4.30£. And bought an Oyster card at the paddington station. O.O!! Circle line was closed! With the tube map, I took hammersmith line and head to GPS station. Walk---------with luggage, luckily it was already off-peak. Came out from GPS station, saw tesco, went in, thought they hv simcard..=.= and they don't hv. Ok..starting to find my way to the hostel. Got lost quite a few times..went n asked so many ppl before I finally found it...reached hostel around 8pm, bought a 24hr wifi for 5£ to MSG cy that I've arrived. Back to room, shower n sleep....tiring day..didn't sleep fr almost 24hr...weather was ok. Nt thaaaaaaaaaaaaat cold. Hostel is ok. Got a room of 8. Shower n toilet outside. Ok la........
28th dec: woke up 7am+. went down to lobby and online. Get to call dad. Today went to tower bridge, London's eye, china town, Oxford circus (gonna go again alone tmr to shop!) lunch was nasi lemak. Dinner was nando's. lol. tube is so convenient here! Especially with the Oyster card that my friend told me to buy first. A cute kid looked at me while in tube this morning. we smiled to each other..little boy is just so cute!! Plus got myself a 3G plan. Walked a LoT! Kaki mau patah! Gonna go bac to Oxford street and buy "I love London" shirt!;) something about Oxford circus: nike store : 3 levels, HnM: 4 levels, zara, LV, uniqlo, forever 21.....is all 专卖店. ;) weather is ok. Although has light shower. Still very walkable. :p
29th dec: went to see buckingham palace and had a walk in Hyde park. its cold n windy. traveled to queensway and bought souvenirs. After lunch, went to bond street and Oxford circus alone for shopping. Bought some stuffs for dad mom n myself. After 2hrs+, totally couldn't stand walking anymore...walked to bond street station and get my ass back hostel. Later at 4pm, fren came back after sending her parents to the airport. We sat in the yha hostel lobby until 9pm, ate pizza as dinner and then walked to Victoria bus station. Night bus 11pm....
30th dec: reached Edinburgh around 7am+. It was sooooooooo windy and the road outside the bus station was under construction so we had to take a cab as we were all tired and no energy to walk further to find the nearest bus stop in a freezing morning. We reached the hostel, rest and ate get going to Edinburgh castle. Walked and visited the old castle..then we came out around 12pm+ for lunch. After lunch fren brought me to find souvenir shops. I bought some Scottish bread? From the castle souvenir shop. I didn't buy the jumper as it is too expensive (15£) and I don't think I'll need to wear such thick hoody in jb nx time since I won't be having lectures anymore. We walked till some palace..and it's opened for public that day! Omg! Scottish queen Mary's palace! Awesome place...! Night we ate instant noodle in hostel after buying some stuff from tesco. Lol.
31st dec: woke up early and get ready for timberbush tour to Loch Ness. Freezing cold morning as usual. Ate bread as breakfast in hostel. Take a bus to the front of Edinburgh castle as the meeting point is thr. Bus came on time. Tour guide is mr grames. Omg I love his sarcastic jokes lolol and his Scottish accent omg...totally <3 Scottish accent now. XD . Took some photos on the way to Loch Ness, the lake where nesse is (the famous water mysterious creature) it wasn't freezing..so the cruise tour was available for 12£ cruise fr an hour. I bought a nesse mug as souvenir. Haha. Oh btw, had microwave food as lunch. Too bad the snow has gone on the day we went :( cz it was still there yesterday. Anyway, I've seen snow before, so, not a biggie. dinner was instant noodle again if I'm not mistaken. Night time.....saw the Hogmanay torch fire parade and went to their Christmas market and tried a sip of hot red wine in the cold... Too lazy to get out for countdown after that.
1st jan 2013:
The next day..took a cab and get to bus station cz the bus service wasn't running on 1st jan. sat there. Cy bought mcD. Got on bus. 14 hours on the road...v.e.r.y. Tired after reaching Plymouth around 11.30pm at the bus station. Cab again back to cy's place.
2nd jan:
Went to Plymouth city centre. And oh, it's cy's bf bday so cy treated us seafood for lunch :D. Went to walk around a bit...bank, post office.....dinner was noodle prepared by cy! Taste good :)
3rd jan:
Took a morning bus to the train station for Bath trip. Reached thr around 11.30am..first went to eat lunch before beginning anything..ate at some Sally idk wat shop famous for its bun/bread..anyways, waited for a long time for food to come. Went to the Roman bath..forgot the ticket price alrd...anyways...walked with an audio guide..the hot spring and building is just awesome. The intelligence of the Ancient Rome...been inside there for around one hour. Bought 2 bookmarks as souvenir. Came out, meet up with cy. Walked to some Jane Austin centre. Jz snapped a photo of the lady..I didn't get inside it. Walked walked walked to some place whr cy said its famous la..ppl will come take photo with the building. Okay....took a photo..walked back to train station near 4pm. My nx train is from bath to Oxford. Cy them had to wait till 5sth to get back to Plymouth. I went on to Oxford on my own. Reached early. Misguided terribly by apple map. Went into some business school and asked for direction. Finally found yha Oxford after walking round and round at the road junction for 20min. Went to yha, checked in, ordered a pot of tea and ate my dinner (the cake). Downloaded google map and it went well guiding me the next day! Super thankful to google map.
4th jan: Oxford trip.
So.....
I walked------------all the way first to Christ church, but it's too early so I walked to its meadow. Passing thru Megpag lane to pembroke street.? Went into some st Mary's virgin church but still couldn't find the way up to the tower even though I tried more than once walking in the building. Then I saw the Radcliffe camera and accidentally found bridge of sighs before I entered bodleian library. Two very kind tourists helped me to snap a photo with the bridge. Later I walked to the library and got myself a standard tour ticket. But till the meeting hour I still hv one hour to wander around. So at first I walked out again to the surrounding and jz sat on a bench. Later I went to the library store to buy 2 bookmarks as souvenirs. Later I went into a philosophy faulty which it has some free Persian love poem exhibition. Spent quite some amount of time inside before checking myself in the lib tour.
I) divinity college. Jz amazing! And the ceiling..the gothic style of building whr the queen's brother had brought back European manuscript to build..and oh The tour guide is an old uncle, very nice man. Love his explanation. We further went up to the old library..again..jz awesome..get to see OLD books..and how were they horizontally placed initially, chained initially until how books are placed right now.
2) After this trip, I went to Christ church using the same route back. But this time I only spent around 30min+ as i was hungry and I got angry with myself..Christ church has some scene fr Harry potter dining hall. Apparently the cathedral has sth to do with 'Alice in wonderland' but I didn't bother much. Came out. Searched for food. O.M.G. Got pwned so bad. 2 shops I went aren't open! Wth! I was cursing and eating chocolate walking all the way bac to whr I came frm yha. Went into a shop and ordered fish n chip. Oops =.= too large portion I couldn't finish...anw..sat there until 2.30pm..got up and left. Walked to the shopping street...and window shopping..until almost 3..I was totally pissed by myself. I walked back to the train station and bought 2 more bottles of mineral water and sat there online as they have free wifi for an hour ( which is alrd sufficient ><)
5th jan: be an otaku at cy's place. Lunch was balagnaise and dinner was fish, vege and meat.
6th jan: the day to leave Plymouth and get to London. Wake up early at 8am to bathe cz cy's hostel gonna cut off electricity at 9am. Ate ham+egg+bread as breakfast. Stayed until 11.00sth, walked to the bus stop with my stuff. Went to city centre. Went shopping, bought a pair of shoes from sole trader which cost me 35£. Later went to eat mcD lunch for 1.99£. After lunch went shopping again at debeenhem. Didn't buy anything but thought of getting a bag for mom. Finally got to train station. OHMYHOLyshit! Didn't know ticket issuing has problem! Couldn't retrieve ticket frm machine or counter. Cy had to call the company. I was quite nervous. She was also nervous cz guess what...!!!!! I only got my ticket issued 7 minutes before train depart! Ran like shit. Luckily didn't need to carry luggage to another platform /_\. But didnt get to say goodbye to cu properly ><. i owe her this...she had helped me to settle ticket issue and stressed herself out..i feel so bad....Reached London late also. Met dj. Went to his hostel tumpang for a night. Haha so glad seeing him.
